Late each winter, A-list movie stars from around the world gather in Hollywood to honor the best of the best in their industry.
And every year the best of the best in bottled waters gather in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia to do the same.
The Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting is, as we like to say, the Academy Awards of Water. It’s also one of our favorite spring events, as we get to see where Mountain Valley ranks among water’s who’s-who (spoiler: quite high).
Our waters have won 18 honors from the talented tasters at Berkeley Springs, the most of any U.S. water company since the tasting’s inception in 1991. From Best Bottled Spring Water to Best Flavored Essence Sparkling, Mountain Valley’s range of products are regularly ranked among the best not only in the country, but also the world.
Berkeley Springs’ judges rate the competition’s waters on everything from appearance, to aroma, to taste, mouthfeel and aftertaste. Their expert tastebuds draw water entries from as far away as Bosnia, Australia, Tasmania and Japan.
We say: The more the merrier.
Mountain Valley has been voted best in the world a whopping four times. In 2019, we took home top honors in the Best Sparkling Water category, as well as the Best Flavored Essence Sparkling for our White Peach Sparkling Water. Those gold medals joined our two previous wins for Best in the World Spring Water. In 2020, we took home yet more hardware when our Blackberry Pomegranate Sparkling Water was named best in the U.S. and top three from around the globe.
We first caught the attention of the Berkeley Springs’ judges way back in 1992, when our sparkling water ranked No. 3 in the world. As we’ve neared our milestone 150th anniversary, Mountain Valley has been on a roll, earning top ratings each of the last three years.
In the words of another multiple Academy Award winner: “We can't deny the fact that you like us. Right now, you like us!"
As America’s most award-winning water, it’s a pretty nice view from way up here at the top. Our trophy case is getting full, but we’ll happily make room for more.
See you soon, Berkeley Springs.
