A true Hot Springs original, Superior Bathhouse Brewery is the only brewery in a U.S. National Park and the only brewery in the world to utilize thermal spring water in their beer.
Built in 1916, the Superior operated as a bathhouse in Downtown Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas, until its closure in 1983. After lying vacant for 30 years, owner Rose Schweikhart and her team re-imagined the Superior Bathhouse into a brewery, craft beer tasting room, full service, family-friendly restaurant and event venue.
When we explored partnerships for our 150th year, teaming up with Superior Bathhouse Brewery made perfect sense. Two Hot Springs originals, coming together to create an exclusive custom brew using Mountain Valley Spring Water? Absolutely. But it was no easy feat.
Superior is used to using the thermal spring water that flows naturally into their building to make their beer, so they loaded up their truck and a 50 gallon tank and head to the Mountain Valley Spring Water plant to fill up on America's original premium spring water.
Their brewmaster and team of beer lovers and experts then got to work on creating a beer that matched the high standards of excellence they have at Superior and highlighted the award-winning taste of Mountain Valley Spring Water. The result was a light bodied, crushable Blonde Ale with citrus and earthy tones called Mountain Water. Made with Nordic Yeast, the 5.25% ABV beer was the hit of a brunch held to honor Mountain Valley's 150th Anniversary during the recent Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival.
We love working with our friends and neighbors in Hot Springs, and are especially grateful to the team at Superior for all their hard work to make this dream collaboration a reality. Want to try it for yourself? It's on tap now, but head to Hot Springs FAST as this exclusive collaboration won't last long.
